The Life Fulfilling Community® ... Where Members Flourish

As the nation’s only Life Fulfilling Community® (LFC), The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch was designed to commune with nature; provide challenging, engaging, member-driven programming; and create a therapeutic environment where social and cultural forces positively shape lives.

The LFC philosophy and approach, which was pioneered by The Glenridge when it opened in 2003, is rooted in science – and it’s all about helping people live their best lives. According to Dr. Martin Seligman at the University of Pennsylvania, an innovator in the field of positive psychology, five elements must be present for individuals to flourish: Positive emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Acceptance (PERMA, for short). These elements provide permanent building blocks for a life of profound fulfillment.

At The Glenridge, we put PERMA into practice by incorporating it into all aspects of our culture. We call it “The Glenridge

Effect” – and we’ve seen it positively impact so many of our members who move here, find renewed purpose and “reinvent” their lives. Not only does this philosophy set us apart, it also makes others take notice. Case in point: Readers of Sarasota Magazine voted The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch “Best Retirement Community in Sarasota” for eight straight years.

But, this is the bottom line: Research shows that seniors who engage in ongoing social activities not only enjoy better brain health and emotional well-being, they also live longer, more fulfilled lives. At The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch, we see this truth every day. The concept is working! Discover how we can help you flourish, too.

To learn more about PERMA, read Dr. Seligman’s book Flourish: A Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-Being.

Here, we actually put PERMA into practice — all of those elements are engrained in our culture. We call it ‘The Glenridge Effect’. I’ve seen it positively impact so many people who move in and just get a ‘second wind’. They really do flourish here.
